Summary
Includes a list of names and ages of nine Aboriginal people and five children residing in the Wentworth District Number. The reverse is headed 'Report from Pooncarie Police', and provides population numbers for adults, their gender and children. Surname of one man is possibly Dan Limbery. Berndt and Berndt [Berndt (1993: 216)] note a cultural informant named Dan Limberry. Limberry came originally from the Murray River and arrived at Poonindie in the 1860s. In 1869 he accompanied Superintendent Holden on a recruitment drive along the Murray from Wentworth in New South Wales to Blanchetown in South Australia. The respect Limberry commanded among the people they met impressed Holden (see Brock, P. in Aboriginal History, Vol. 11 1987).
