Lincoln and Lake Eyre, showing
the habitat of certain tribes, but
he ignores the fact that I
published substantially the same
map in 1900, four years earlier (1)
In comparing the two maps and
the explanatory letter press
accompanying mine, we observe
a marvellous coincidence. We
do not often find such a
wondrous agreement in the
details of two independent
authors. My readers are invited
to compare the two maps
and come to their own conclusions.

It only remains to be added
that no author had defined
the habitat of the tribes in question
prior to the issue of my map
in question."

I am sorry to trouble
you with remarks like this,
but I am anxious to let the
Council see the kind of man
he is; his hand seems to be
against every man. I got
consideration of the paper
postponed + told the Council
you had been to Lake Eyre +
he hadn't. If you don't want
to write me don't. Yours sincerely
Mr Maiden
