I sent you some paper with a
report of the proceedings of the Commission
of Inquiry in the H.C. I hope you got them.
It is not yet completed and no one
seems to know what the result may be
- possibly a smash up of the Department.
I am very sorry as he is a very old and
a very kind friend of mine. I think his
faults have been those of temper
and perhaps "manners". But
any one who has not had to deal with
"intelligent idiots" in the guise of
clerks can imagine what a torment
it must be to lick a department into
shape!

In looking over your letter I find
that you propose a title for our
future Ethnological work which
is excellent with the one
