Edward (Ned) McLellan was from the Wimmera district and he is identified as a Wotjobaluk man at the Coranderrk graveyard, where he is buried. McLellan married Maggie at Lake Hindmarsh (Ebenezer) in 1881 and some time after this they moved to Coranderrk. There are reports of Ned playing cricket and football, both with some admired skill, whilst at Coranderrk. He died in January 1911 aged 59. Maggie had predeceased him.
McLellan was an informant for Howitt and Howitt and Fison's anthropological rival, R. H. Mathews, both men visiting McLellan at Coranderrk.
