your four papers were printed in
four successive numbers of the
Journal; for you must remember
that the Journal appears only once
in six months. If the papers were
spread over four numbers, readers
would be apt to forget your first
points before they had got to
the last.
Mr Kingsford asks me, what
the title of your papers is to be.
He says there is none in the
MS. You will be able to
insert the title in the proof.
And in returning the proof
you can say how many
reprints you want. As I have
said, I think there should
not be less than 600.
Your letter in reply to
Lang is printed in the last
number of the Athenaeum
(October 20th). You are making
things what may be called
cheerful for him.
