Desert
and being an inhospitable
hot piece of country it is - after
the last 3 weeks, I can quite
appreciate Sturt's account of
it - for 20 days after Christmas
the average maximum temperature
was 112° - it was twice 116° and
once 120° so it is anything but a
Paradise in are living in.

The Winter weather here is most
enjoyable. I envy you your
cool Gipps Land summerss
and pleasant Lake scenery of
which my son who lives at Bairnsdale
gives me glowing accounts.
