Richard Helms

Zoologist and botanist. Helms was a collector for the Australian Museum, New South Wales and later worked in Western Australia as a biologist. He published numerous papers on flora, fauna and anthropology, including an oft-cited paper that included information on the annual gatherings in the Snowy Mountains by a number of Aboriginal groups. These gatherings included feasting on Bogong moths, the methods of gathering, preparing and the taste was described in some detail by Helms.
