I have no less than ten
representatives of different
tribes in my camp but I
think you understand there is
a great difficulty in getting
information of the kind from
blacks. Some have forgotten
and others think it is mere
impertinent curiosity on the
part of a white man to ask
questions of the kind and are
therefore reticent on the subject.

I hope at some future period
to be able to give you some
valuable information about the
natives in these parts. I am quite
aware that such information is useless
unless it is complete.
