How Baukan stole the Kurnai's fire
Baukan stole the fire from the Kurnai and was
going to carry it away up to the sky, climing [sic] up to
the top of Wilsons promontory. When there her
son Buluntūrt took a cord of the sinews of Emu
and threw it up to the sky. When it stuck fast he
pulled it but it broke. He did the same with
Kangaroo sinew which did the same. Then he
took a cord of sinews of the red wallaby and threw it
up to the sky and pulling at it could not break it. He
said to Bulun baukan you hold me round the neck.
Then Baukan doing this Buluntūrt began to climb
up the string to the sky. Meanwhile [the - crossed out] Ngarūgal (the
crow) had seen Baukan taking the fire and went to
Tetchi (the Brown Hawk) and told him. Tetchie
flew up after Baukan and hit her with his wings
