Manager at Cummeragunja Mission Station from the 1880s. Whilst there was some reported good relations between the Cummeragunja community and Harris initially, his insistence on applying for a separate school on the station for white children, despite the acknowledgement of the good standard of teaching by Mauritian man Thomas Shadrach James. Harris also oversaw changes in use of the land by the community, causing tension as this minimised their agency and ignored the efforts the community had taken in working and caring for the land.
